Michael Bumpers

Head Coach Michael Bumpers joined the softball program during the summer of 2018.    

He led the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team from 2008-2010 after serving as an assistant coach from 1997-2007.  During his tenure he had multiple 1st and 2nd Team All- SWAC performers, SWAC Pitcher of the Year Justin Moring, and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Matt Pace.    

Prior to heading the softball program he coached in the Arkansas Worth/Rawlings Prospects softball and baseball organization where he was a part of multiple national and state titles.  The organization has placed multiple players in all levels of collegiate baseball and softball. 

He is an Army Combat Veteran after serving with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment with Bravo Company 489th Engineer Battalion during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003 and 2004. 

He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a Master of Science Degree in Sports Administration from American Military University. 

He played football and baseball at the University of Arkansas (1990-1993) where he was a two year letterman.  He went on to play professional baseball for five years for different clubs. 

He is married to Tiffany Bumpers and have two kids, Desiree and Elliott.

He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated and Sigma Beta Delta (International Honor Society for Business, Management, and Administration).
