Sherrer is in his second year, but got promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach after the 2022-23 season for the Golden Lions.  He spent the last seven seasons at the Junior College level at Three Rivers College (MO). He worked for the legendary Gene Bess, who is the all-time winningest coach at any level with 1300 wins. Sherrer helped Three Rivers to 128 wins and one Region XVI title over the past seven seasons. He recruited 4 Juco All-Americans, 37 4-year players, 19 of them signing with Division 1 schools during his tenure.

Sherrer spent three seasons at Murray State as the Graduate Assistant from (2011-2014), where the Racers compiled a 75-23 record. He coached 2 NBA players, Isaiah Canaan (34th pick in the 2013 Draft) and Cameron Payne 14th pick in the 2015 Draft). 
Sherrer had a hand in just about every program area, including player development, film exchange, practice coordination, and academics. He graduated with a master's degree in 2013 at Murray State in human development and leadership.

Sherrer started his college playing career at Three Rivers Community College (2006-08) in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and was team captain. In 2008, he was the NJCAA Region-16 Player of the Year and led the Raiders to the NJCAA Final Four and was named to the NJCAA 1st Team All-America Team. He was also was named team captain at South Alabama (2008-10) and ranked eighth in the nation in free throw percentage at 90.1 as a senior in 2010. Sherrer was a student assistant at South Alabama while finishing his degree in organizational communication in 2011.
 
A native of Monticello, Ark., Sherrer was a 4-time All-Conference (2002-2006) and three-time Arkansas All-State picks (2003-06) while playing for his father, Wayne Sherrer, at Monticello High School.
