Nicholas Wilkerson

Born overseas to a military family, Coach Wilkerson prides himself as a highly motivated, disciplined, and detail-oriented coach. Wilkerson has coaching experience in professional, collegiate, high school, and private sectors, working with athletes ranging from 13 to 90 years old. He graduated from Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, and played football at Virginia University of Lynchburg before transferring to pursue a degree in sports medicine, which became the starting point of his career in sports performance.

Prior to his time at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Coach Wilkerson oversaw the Olympic sports programs at Delaware State University, where he significantly reduced injury rates. One of his most significant accomplishments was his role with the Throwing team, which achieved personal records leading up to the NCAA MEAC Track & Field Championship, with two throwers finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Men’s Shot Put.

Before working at Delaware State University, Coach Wilkerson was part of the Army’s H2F program at Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk) in Louisiana, where he helped prepare hundreds of service members for deployment to Europe. His primary role was to develop durable, robust, and war-fighting service members, increasing lethalities and retention rates.

Coach Wilkerson's proudest moment was watching his friend and athlete, Christina Epps, qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Coach Wilkerson’s favorite quote: "Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be."
