Redshirted during his true freshman season, preserving a year of eligibility while developing within the Golden Lions' offensive system.

High School:
Graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Arkansas, where he established himself as one of the state's most dynamic all-purpose athletes. Earned Arkansas All-State honors following an outstanding senior season in which he amassed more than 2,000 all-purpose yards, rushed for more than 1,000 yards, and scored 30 touchdowns. Helped lead the Dragons to a 9-4 record and a deep postseason run while starring at running back, wide receiver, and defensive back. As a senior, totaled 1,498 rushing yards, 433 receiving yards, and 2,085 all-purpose yards, averaging 173.8 all-purpose yards per game. During his varsity career, accumulated 3,991 all-purpose yards, including 2,105 rushing yards and 1,133 receiving yards.
