Derryck (Ric) Dawkins begins his first season at University of Arkansas Pine Bluff in 2022 as a Defensive Graduate Assistant.
He joined the Golden Lions after most recently spending the 2021 season at Franklin and Marshall University, serving as the defensive line coach.
He helped lead F&M to a 6-5 record (after starting 1-4), had two Defensive Linemen named 2nd Team All-Conference, and helped the defense finish 4th in the Centennial Conference in rush yards allowed. Also, while at F&M, two Defensive Linemen finished top 10 in sacks in the Centennial Conference, and top 5 in total tackles on the team. The defensive line also recorded 4 Sacks and 2 FF in one game.
Prior to F&M, Ric spent 4 seasons working as a high school coach in Maryland at Riverdale Baptist and St. Mary Ryken while pursuing his bachelor’s degree. During his time with the St. Mary Ryken Knights, Ric helped the team in 2018 get its first WCAC Championship in school history, and its second one the very next year.
Ric earned his bachelor’s degree in communications studies from University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020.
