Deion Roberson enters his third season on the Golden Lions football staff, coaching defensive line in 2018, linebackers in 2019, and will add defensive run game coordinator duties in 2020. 

In 2019, UAPB ranked third in the SWAC in rushing defensive, allowing 143.7 yards per game, more than 117 yards less per game than the previous season. LB Kolby Watts had a career year, tying for second on the team in total tackles and was second on the team in tackles for loss in posting four 10-tackle games. 

In 2018, DE Je'Kevin Carter earned second-team All-SWAC honors after leading the team in tackles (74) and ranked second in tackles for loss (10.0) with three 10+ tackle games.

In spring of 2016, Coach Roberson was named interim defensive line coach at Alcorn State University, where he also handled full-time coaching responsibility during Alcorn's coaching search, and he also worked with transfer and walk-on recruitment.

In the fall of the same year, he worked at Prairie View A&M University as a graduate assistant and was named both assistant defensive line coach and assistant special teams coordinator for the Panthers football team. Roberson was responsible for in game personnel, play recognition and play charting. He also assisted with weekly game planning for each opponent.

In 2015, he was a student-assistant as well as assistant defensive line coach and assistant linebackers coach for the Braves. Coach Roberson charted plays for the defensive coordinator, helped with practice cards and scripts, signaled defensive calls in both practice and games, broke down film, and even coached in the SWAC championship game.

Roberson is a 2016 graduate of Alcorn State University where he earned a degree in general studies. He played on the defensive line at Alcorn and was a three year letterman as well as team captain. His team won the Southwestern Athletic Conference in 2014 and he was named 2x Alcorn State University Defensive Player of the Year (2013, 2014).

He earned 2x All-SWAC honors and was named All-American (FCS, Boxtorow) in 2014. Roberson is the current 'tackle for loss' record holder for a single season at Alcorn (21.5).

In 2015, his Braves were ranked number one in the conference in passing yards allowed, total defense, sacks, third down defense and number two in red zone defense. That season, Alcorn won the SWAC football championship.
