#UAPBWomensHoops: Lady Lions Capture Sixth Straight Home Win with Dominant 81-56 Victory Over Prairie View

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The UAPB Lady Lions showed exactly why H.O. Clemmons Arena has become a fortress this season, rolling past Prairie View A&M 81-56 on Saturday afternoon in front of 1,347 fans to claim their sixth consecutive home win and improve to 8-7 in SWAC conference play.

From the opening tip, UAPB set the tone with an aggressive, inside-out attack that proved impossible for Prairie View to contain. The Lady Lions built an early 22-13 advantage after the first quarter and never looked back, pushing the lead to 45-26 at halftime on the strength of 20 assists and a staggering 58 points in the paint for the game. UAPB's ball movement was a thing of beauty, with the offense flowing freely and creating high-percentage looks at nearly every turn.
Four Lady Lions reached double figures on the night, led by a balanced and efficient offensive performance across the board. Jakyra Jackson ignited the home crowd off the bench, pouring in 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with five assists and three steals in just 22 minutes. Jailah Pelly matched her with 14 points of her own while adding four assists, five rebounds, and not a single turnover — a masterclass in responsible playmaking. Indiya Bowen added 13 points and knocked down three triples, consistently finding open looks from deep, while Jasmine Davis rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, four assists, and three steals of her own.
The Lady Lions' second-chance opportunities were a major factor in pulling away. UAPB crashed the offensive glass relentlessly, hauling in 21 offensive rebounds that led to 25 second-chance points. The team also turned Prairie View's 18 turnovers into 16 additional points, making their defensive effort just as impactful as their offensive production.
Bench contributions were equally impressive, as UAPB's reserves combined for 26 points and brought an energy that kept the pressure on throughout all 40 minutes. Tyra Taylor provided a spark in the fourth quarter with back-to-back buckets off the offensive glass to push the lead to 74-56, and Coumba Keita iced the game with two free throws in the final seconds to set the final margin.
With their sixth straight win at H.O. Clemmons Arena and a conference record of 8-7, the Lady Lions have positioned themselves right in the thick of the SWAC race.
