#UAPBWomensHoops: Gardner's Dominance Lift Lady Lions Over Texas Southern 68-62; Fifth Consecutive Home Victory

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions protected home court Thursday night, using a strong third-quarter surge and disciplined execution down the stretch to secure a 68–62 SWAC victory inside H.O. Clemmons Arena.

UAPB opened the game with steady offensive rhythm, matching intensity early as both teams settled in. After the first quarter ended tied at 16–16, the Lady Lions began to find momentum in the second period by tightening defensively and creating opportunities in transition. Their defensive activity helped them carry a narrow lead into halftime and set the tone for the second half.

Coming out of the break, UAPB delivered its most impactful stretch of the night in the third quarter. The Lady Lions limited scoring opportunities while capitalizing on efficient offense, winning the quarter 18–13 and creating separation. Their ability to control tempo, protect the paint, and convert scoring chances allowed them to build a cushion heading into the final period.

Khaniah Gardner led the Lady Lions with a dominant performance, scoring 24 points on an efficient 10-of-13 shooting while adding five rebounds. Indiya Bowen followed with 15 points, connecting on two three-pointers and adding four assists as she helped facilitate the offense. Jailah Pelly added 14 points and four assists, providing steady leadership and helping maintain offensive organization throughout the contest.

Defensively, the Lady Lions made their presence felt with active hands and strong interior play. UAPB finished with 11 steals and four blocks, disrupting offensive rhythm and creating key momentum swings. On the glass, the Lady Lions secured 37 rebounds, led by Tyra Taylor's nine rebounds to go along with six points, helping limit second-chance opportunities and maintain control late in the game.

UAPB's balanced offensive production, defensive discipline, and ability to respond in key moments allowed the Lady Lions to protect home court and secure another conference victory.

Up next, the Lady Lions return to H.O. Clemmons Arena on Saturday, hosting Prairie View A&M at 3 p.m.
