Former Student-Athlete Dr. Kendall Wilson and Med South President & CEO Scott Young to Upgrade Sports Medicine Facilities

Pine Bluff, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Department of Athletics has announced a new partnership with Dr. Kendall Wilson of Modern Medical Solutions, a former Golden Lions football player and proud UAPB alumnus, and Scott Young, President & CEO of Med South, to enhance the sports medicine resources available to its student-athletes.

An Arkansas native, Dr. Wilson played football for the Golden Lions from 1993 to 1997. Today, he has teamed up with Young to give back to UAPB by outfitting its athletics program with advanced sports medicine technology.

Together, Dr. Wilson and Young have provided UAPB Athletics with state-of-the-art equipment including cold laser therapy, Chattanooga Combo STEM machines, CO₂ laser units, drop tables, treatment tables, and portable recovery systems. This investment replaces outdated equipment in the university's training facilities and ensures student-athletes have access to cutting-edge treatments designed to improve recovery and overall performance.

Investing in Athlete Health and Performance

The upgraded equipment is designed to provide:
  • Relief of pain, muscle spasms, and joint contractures
  • Treatment for adhesive capsulitis, bursitis with slight calcification, myositis, soft tissue injuries, and shortened tendons due to past injuries or scar tissue
  • Relief of sub-chronic and chronic pain and stiffness resulting from capsular scarring and tightness

In addition, the new technology will significantly improve athlete care by:
  • Increasing range of motion
  • Reducing aches and pains
  • Speeding up recovery time
  • Ensuring proper upkeep and preventative care
  • Helping student-athletes return to peak performance more efficiently

Alumni & Partner Commitment
Dr. Wilson, who remains closely connected to the Golden Lions community, shared his motivation for giving back:
"Life is a balance between who you love and what you love to do and I'm doing both. You love your university, and I love what I do. As a former player, I know firsthand the demands student-athletes face. This investment is about ensuring they have the best possible tools to recover, stay healthy, and perform at their highest level. UAPB gave me a foundation for success, and now I want to do the same for today's Golden Lions."

Scott Young echoed that commitment, noting the importance of collaboration in this initiative:

"Med South is proud to partner with Dr. Wilson in supporting UAPB Athletics. These student-athletes deserve the best care, and by investing in modern sports medicine technology, we are helping ensure their long-term health, safety, and success both on and off the field."

University Gratitude
Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Chris Robinson expressed appreciation for the partnership:

"We are extremely grateful to Dr. Wilson and Scott Young for their generosity and commitment to our student-athletes. Upgrading our training facilities is a game-changer and it ensures our teams have access to the latest resources to stay healthy, recover faster, and compete at the highest level. It also shows the lasting impact of our alumni and partners who continue to invest in the success of Golden Lion Athletics."
