College Station, TX. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's Track & Field program continues to shine on the national stage, as two standout student-athletes have advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round, hosted at Texas A&M University.
Sophomore Jordan Pierre turned in a stellar performance in the men's 400 meters, recording a time of 46.04 seconds in the opening round. His time earned him a spot in the quarterfinals as one of the fastest additional qualifiers in a highly competitive field.
Junior Dwight Henry made a statement in the men's 200 meters, blazing through his heat in 20.99 seconds to place third and automatically qualify for the quarterfinals. His mark ranks among the region's top sprint performances.
"These young men continue to represent the university with pride, discipline, and determination," said Chris McCoy, UAPB Head Track & Field Coach. "They've put in the work all year, and it's exciting to see that effort paying off on one of the sport's biggest stages."
In addition to Pierre and Henry, the UAPB 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay teams will also compete tonight in their respective quarterfinal heats. Each squad will look to finish among the top 12 to punch their ticket to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June in Eugene, Oregon.
Under Coach McCoy's leadership, the Golden Lions have established a tradition of excellence, with UAPB athletes advancing to the NCAA West First Round in nine of the last ten years.
UAPB's consistent presence in postseason competition underscores the continued growth and national competitiveness of the Golden Lions' Track & Field program.
