#UAPBTrack&Field: Seven Golden Lions Qualify for NCAA West Preliminary First Round in Outdoor Track & Field

ENTRY:  MEN

PINE BLUFF, AR
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's outdoor track & field program is heading back to the national stage, officially qualifying seven athletes in five events for the NCAA West Preliminary First Round, set for May 28–31 in College Station, Texas.

The top 48 athletes in each event from the East and West regions earn a spot in the preliminary round, with the top 12 finishers in each event and relay advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, this June.

Among the Golden Lions heading to College Station are both UAPB men's relay teams:
Individually, Jordan Pierre will compete in the 400m, entering the meet ranked in the Top 25 nationally, poised to make a serious push toward Eugene, OR.

In the 200m dash, UAPB will be represented by two elite sprinters:
  • Jared Sylvester, also ranked in the Top 25 nationally
  • Ross Walrond, building on a season full of personal bests and championship-level finishes
In field events, Pierre Brownlee-Ford will represent the Golden Lions in the long jump, looking to add to a season filled with standout performances.

"This group has worked hard all year, and their qualification for the NCAA West Prelims is a reflection of that dedication," said Chris McCoy, UAPB Head Track & Field Coach. "They've embraced the grind, pushed each other, and performed when it mattered most. I'm proud of them and confident they're ready to compete at the highest level. We're not just showing up, we are looking to perform."

The NCAA West Preliminary serves as the final qualifying stop before the NCAA National Championships, and UAPB enters with depth, speed, and high expectations.
