#UAPBTrack&Field: Golden Lions Track & Field Shines at Little Rock Invitational

LITTLE ROCK, AR – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) men's and women's track and field teams turned in impressive performances at the 2025 Little Rock Invitational, held April 11–12 at the Coleman Sports Complex in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Golden Lions men's team earned a strong third-place finish with 102 points, trailing only Central Arkansas (185) and Little Rock (142), showcasing their depth and competitiveness across multiple events.

Men's Highlights:
Sprints & Middle Distance

100m: Jared Sylvester (2nd – 10.50), Dwight Henry (5th – 10.66)
400m: Mohamed Soumare (1st – 47.34), Avindale Smith (2nd – 47.35), Jordan Pierre (7th – 47.78), Christopher Coleman (11th – 48.27)
800m: Genesis Joseph (2nd – 1:50.40)
1500m: Inertia Mugethi (8th – 4:15.21), Terrance Johnson (11th – 4:25.26)

Hurdles & Relays

110m Hurdles: Dwight Henry (1st – 14.00)
400m Hurdles: Navan McCoy (3rd – 54.95)
Relays: UAPB captured 1st place in both the 4x100m (40.17) and 4x400m relays setting a meet record with a time of (3:10.09).

Field Events

Triple Jump: Anthony Fuqua (1st – 14.70m)
Long Jump: Pierre Brownlee-Ford (3rd – 7.21m)

Women's Highlights:
The UAPB women's team also delivered standout results, particularly in the sprints and throws, placing fifth with a score of 60 points.

400m: Cadese Higgins (3rd – 55.18), Ashley Robinson (6th – 57.17), Kaiel Kimble (12th – 58.07)
800m: Kris-Ann Plummer (4th – 2:14.81), Abigail Pinnock (6th – 2:18.61)
1500m: Plummer (7th – 4:51.93)

Hurdles & Relays

100m Hurdles: Arryona Simmons (1st – 14.28)
Relays: 1st in the 4x400m (3:45.27) and 2nd in the 4x100m (46.49)

Field Events

Shot Put: Cornelia Watts (4th – 12.91m)
Discus: Watts (7th – 37.63m)
Hammer Throw: Lyric Love (3rd – 51.90m), Watts (4th – 49.02m)

"This meet showed the strength, depth, and competitive drive of our entire program," said Head Coach Chris McCoy. "We had standout performances across sprints, distance, relays, and field events. Our athletes are peaking at the right time heading into the championship season."

Up next, the Golden Lions head to Waco, Texas, to compete in the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor University, April 18–19.
