#UAPBTrackAndField: Golden Lions Turn in Solid Day at the Washburn Open

Topeka, KS — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff track and field team delivered a confident showing at the Washburn Open, totaling seven top-eight finishes across the jumps, hurdles, sprints and relays while continuing to stack quality marks early in the indoor season.

The Golden Lions' field-event group set the tone in a major way, led by freshman Amora Lowe, who placed second in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.76m (38-07.00). On the men's side, senior Anthony Fuqua added another top finish by taking fourth in the triple jump at 14.91m (48-11.00), while sophomore Bryce White secured sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.89m (6-02.25).

On the track, senior Arryona Simmons earned a fifth-place finish in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.60, and the men's sprint group placed two athletes in the top eight of the 200m as senior Ross Walrond finished fifth in 21.42 and senior Jared Sylvester followed in eighth at 21.54.

The day closed with a strong statement from the men's 4x400 relay, as the team of Jared Sylvester, Christopher Coleman, Nicholas Byrd, Ross Walrond helped the Golden Lions post a third-place finish in 3:11.93 to cap the meet with one of the squad's best results.
