PINE BLUFF, AR --Doctor Bradley secured a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, but the UAPB men's basketball team fell to the Alcorn State Braves 65-63 at home Saturday.
In addition to Bradley's solid performance, the Golden Lions were led by Raphael Dumon, who recorded 16 points, and by Caleb Jones, who added 13 points coming off the bench.
Led by Kyle Brown's two offensive rebounds, UAPB did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 11 boards that resulted in eight second chance points.
The UAPB defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 15 Alcorn State turnovers while committing 14. Those takeaways turned into 10 points on the offensive end of the floor. Christian Moore led the way individually for the Golden Lions with two steals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 26-15, UAPB went on an 8-0 run with 7:18 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Jones, to narrow its deficit to 26-23. The Golden Lions deficit remained the same as they entered halftime trailing 33-30.
Alcorn State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 63-58 advantage before UAPB went on a 5-0 run to even the score at 63 all with 11 seconds to go in the contest. The Golden Lions could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Braves outscored them 2-0 the rest of the way to hand UAPB the 65-63 loss. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 33 points in the lane.
