PINE BLUFF, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Golden Lions football team has successfully completed its first week of spring camp at Simmons Bank Field.
The team has welcomed four new coaches:
Pierre Ingram, the wide receivers coach;
George Ricumstrict, the defensive line coach;
Nathan Jones, the linebackers coach; and
Miguel Black, the running backs coach. UAPB has also signed multiple new recruits that will make a big difference as the season approaches.
"We just need to build it the right way and find the right players that fit UAPB. Once we do that, everyone will be surprised at what we can achieve," said Coach Hampton.
Despite the changes, Coach Hampton expressed satisfaction with the practice sessions and enthusiasm for week two practice. "We captured some good footage, and the great thing is that we're back at it," he remarked.
Notable returning players for UAPB include quarterback DJ Stevenson and wide receiver Kareem Burke. The tight end duo consists of
Kevin English and
Jaxson Isaac, with Isaac contributing 107 receiving yards last year. Running back Bj Curry added 509 rushing yards last season. On defense, true freshmen Zach Williams and
Amyrion Mingo are filling the cornerback positions. Both players had impressive seasons, with Williams recording 21 tackles and one interception, while Mingo notched five interceptions and 14 tackles. Additionally,
Kyle Knox and
Kaleb Knox will be returning to add depth in secondary.
