GAME 1 | UAPB 8, Henderson State 4

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --Sophomore Kayla Adams was dominant on Tuesday, striking out eight Henderson State hitters over seven innings of work to help lead the UAPB Lady Lions over the Reddies 8-4 at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex. 

In addition to her eight strikeouts, Adams tossed seven innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on 10 hits and walking two for UAPB.

At the plate, the Lady Lions were paced by junior Ariana Gonzalez , who went 2-for-3 on the day with three RBI. Junior Danika Bryant furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Freshman Angelina Rivas also contributed for UAPB, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. UAPB's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a three-run double off the bat Bryant and a two-run single from Rivas. 

The Reddies then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 7-4 until the Lady Lions expanded their advantage in the sixth. Rivas came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which brought the Lady Lions lead to 8-4. The score remained 8-4 for the rest of the game, as UAPB coasted to the win.

GAME 2 | Henderson State 6, UAPB 3

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --

Sophomore Heidi Price got the ball to start for UAPB and took the loss. Freshman Kamea Seunarine was a bright spot for the Lady Lions, starting the ballgame and throwing one shutout inning, allowing one hit.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 6-0, the Lady Lions first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. UAPB plated two runs off of Henderson State pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of senior Amari Broughton.

The Lady Lions kept the deficit at 6-2 before closing the gap further in the seventh. Freshman Chasney Cooper came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which brought the score to 6-3 in favor of the Reddies. The Lady Lions were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
