PINE BLUFF, Arkansas - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions of the diamond got three hits from senior Brant Voth in a 10-3 loss to the Central Arkansas Bears Wednesday.
Senior Chris Bedgood (0-1) got the ball to start for UAPB and took the loss. Junior Nate Monceaux was a bright spot for the Golden Lions, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 4.1 innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits, with three walks and one strikeout.
In addition to his three hits, Voth had two doubles to lead the Golden Lions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Lions were trailing 7-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Collin McLemore came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.
The Golden Lions kept the Bears off the board before narrowing the gap further in the sixth. Senior Jaylon Nauden came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which brought the score to 7-2 in favor of the Bears.
Central Arkansas built their lead to 10-2 before the UAPB offense got going, reducing that lead to 10-3 in the ninth. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
