#UAPBMENSHOOPS: Golden Lions Falls to Alabama State

PINE BLUFF, AR --The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team got a 19-point showing from the bench, but fell 75-63 to the Alabama State Hornets at home Saturday.

The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Kyle Brown, who had 13 points. Caleb Jones tacked on 11 points off the bench and Doctor Bradley helped out with a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

UAPB took advantage of great ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 17 assists on 23 made field goals. Bradley's four assists were the most for the Golden Lions and Christian Moore also contributed with four assists of his own.

UAPB's defense held Alabama State to only 36.4 percent shooting from the field.

How It Happened

After falling behind 8-7, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 15:28 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Zach Reinhart, to take a 13-8 lead. The Golden Lions then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 38-35.

Alabama State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 67-50 advantage before UAPB went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Bradley's layup, to shrink the deficit to 67-55 with 4:24 to go in the contest. The Golden Lions were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 75-63. UAPB shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting four shots from deep to score 12 of its 28 points.
