PITTSBURG, KS - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Track & Field program opened its indoor season with a strong, well-rounded performance highlighted by podium finishes and several top-eight efforts. On the men's side, senior sprinter Jared Sylvester set the tone early by claiming second place in the 60 meters with a blistering time of 6.65, followed by strong efforts from teammates Ross Walrond, who finished 10th in 6.86, Christopher Coleman in 29th at 7.00, Pierre Brownlee-Ford in 38th at 7.09, and Anthony Fuqua in 44th at 7.14. In the 300 meters, senior Avindale Smith delivered another podium finish for the Golden Lions by placing third overall in 33.71, while freshman Jaxson Campbell followed with a 21st-place time of 35.57. The 400 meters saw freshman Terence Scott finish 16th in 50.30 and senior Clerkley
Gregory run 53.62 for 36th. UAPB's depth continued to show in the middle-distance races, where senior Genesis Joseph placed fourth in the 600 yards in 1:11.34, followed by junior Kewarny Fletcher in sixth at 1:12.89, and freshman Altaveon Grant in 14th at 1:14.98. In the 800 meters, freshman Kevin Horns finished 20th with a time of 1:58.89, while junior Don Kasigwa recorded a time of 4:49.53 in the mile to place 51st. Freshman Noah Pasuquin closed out the men's distance events with a 44th-place finish in the 5000 meters at 17:59.69. Sophomore hurdler Navan McCoy added an 11th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.31.
The men's 4x400 relays capped off the day with impressive depth and competitiveness, led by the A-team of Nicholas Byrd, Avindale Smith, Ross Walrond, and Jared Sylvester, who secured a third-place finish in 3:11.07. The C-team of Terence Scott, Jaxson Campbell, Navan McCoy, and Christopher Coleman followed in 16th at 3:20.59, just ahead of the B-team of Altaveon Grant, Kewarny Fletcher, Don Kasigwa, and Genesis Joseph, who placed 17th in 3:21.02. In the men's long jump, junior Pierre Brownlee-Ford delivered a top-six performance with a leap of 6.89m (22'7.25"), while senior Anthony Fuqua added a 10th-place jump of 6.71m (22'0.25").
On the women's side, junior sprinter Kalani Vreen led the Lady Lions in the 60 meters with a 12th-place finish in 7.72, followed by freshmen Destinie Woodall in 54th at 8.14, Madison Moss in 64th at 8.24, and Chandan Hester in 67th at 8.33. The 300 meters featured four strong performances, beginning with junior T'Kyla Bennett placing 14th in 40.62, freshman Praise Onye Franklin finishing 21st in 41.28, freshman Brianna Ferrell taking 22nd in 41.31, and senior Leyone Smith placing 26th at 41.98. In the 400 meters, freshman Destinie Woodall recorded a 23rd-place finish in 1:01.08, followed by senior Lela Singleton in 30th at 1:03.36 and freshman Chandan Hester in 34th at 1:08.86. Distance runner Glorie Kabuin produced two strong outings, placing 33rd in the mile with a time of 5:27.23 before clocking 19:29.15 to finish 32nd in the 5000 meters. The Lady Lions also secured two top-eight finishes in the 60-meter hurdles, with senior Arryona Simmons placing seventh in 8.83 and junior Diamonae Thomas finishing eighth in 8.89.
The women's 4x400 relays continued the momentum, as the B-team of Brianna Ferrell, Arryona Simmons, Kalani Vreen, and Destinie Woodall finished 15th with a time of 3:59.10, and the C-team of Diamonae Thomas, Madison Moss, Chandan Hester, and Lela Singleton placed 25th in 4:31.49. In the field events, freshman Amora Lowe opened her collegiate career by placing 26th in the long jump with a leap of 4.75m (15'7"), then delivered one of UAPB's top women's performances of the day by finishing fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.54m (37'10.5"). Junior thrower Cornelia Watts continued her standout form, earning a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.42m (44'0.5") and a sixth-place finish in the weight throw at 16.87m (55'4.25"), securing two top-eight placements.
UAPB closed the meet showcasing depth, competitive energy, and strong early-season form across event groups. With podium finishes from both sprinters and relays, along with several top-eight marks in hurdles, jumps, and throws, the Golden Lions begin the indoor campaign with momentum and a foundation to build upon as the season progresses.
