#UAPBFootball: Golden Lions Falls to Central Arkansas

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas -- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff fell 56-17 to Central Arkansas at home Saturday night at Simmons Bank Field. 

Mekhi Hagens led UAPB's passing attack with 239 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns and one interception.

Hagens paced the Golden Lions rushing attack by accumulating 25 yards over the course of the game. Bj Curry also added 25 yards on the ground, averaging 5 yards per carry.

Kristian Gammage hauled in two catches for 74 yards. Daemon Dawkins made his presence felt in the passing game, recording six receptions for 62 yards. The Golden Lions also added 56 yards receiving and two touchdowns from Aramoni Rhone in the game.

Ja'Marlin Green showed out for the Golden Lions defense, totaling eight tackles, 0.5 tackle for loss . Shawn Wilson added seven tackles, 1.0 TFL in the loss and Martavious Miller had five tackles and 1.0 TFL in the loss.

How It Happened

UAPB scored on the game's opening drive to take a 3-0 lead.Central Arkansas responded to go ahead 7-3 before the Golden Lions scored again on a 26-yard touchdown reception from to Rhone to jump back ahead 10-7.

Central Arkansas fought back to take a 56-10 lead before UAPB put a touchdown on the board to cut into the lead with 3:12 remaining in the fourth quarter and make it a 56-17 game. Both teams played the rest of the game without scoring.

Game Notes

» UAPB had their highest scoring quarter in the first period, when they put up 10 points.
» UAPB converted 5 of 13 third downs while Central Arkansas was successful on 5 of 7.
» Ja'Marlin Green led the Golden Lions with eight tackles.

The Golden Lions will head into next week with a bye, before matching up against Alcorn St. Braves, Saturday October 5.
