LORMAN, MS --UAPB men's basketball team saw all five starters reach double figures in points, but it was not enough in a 104-95 loss to the Alcorn State Braves on the road Saturday.
The Golden Lions had seven players score in double figures, led by Rashad Williams, who had 20 points. Kylen Milton tacked on 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals and Joe French chipped in as well with 13 points.
UAPB did a stellar job taking care of the basketball, dishing out 12 assists while turning the ball over six times. Trejon Ware's five assists were the most for the Golden Lions.
How It Happened
After falling behind 17-15, UAPB went on a 7-0 run with 12:17 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Lonnell Martin, to take a 22-17 lead. Alcorn State then responded to tie things up at 42-42 heading into halftime. UAPB saw the bench step up in the period, as non-starters registered 15 of its 42 total points.
Alcorn State then snagged an 86-70 advantage before UAPB responded by going on an 8-0 run to shrink the deficit to 86-78 with 2:09 to go in the contest. Alcorn State responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 104-95. UAPB capitalized on seven Alcorn State turnovers in the period, collecting 14 points off those turnovers.
