GAME 1 | UAPB 5, Alcorn State 4
PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --The UAPB Lady Lions needed eight innings to finish the job, but pulled off the 5-4 extra-innings win, walking it off on Kaitlyn Neely's solo home run off of Ta'Niyah Fletcher to claim victory over the Alcorn State Lady Braves Sunday at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex.Â
Heidi Price picked up the victory out of the bullpen for UAPB. The right-hander went three innings, giving up one run on three hits. Danika Bryant also made an impact in the circle for the Lady Lions, starting the ballgame and throwing five innings, giving up three runs, all earned, on four hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Lady Lions first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. UAPB's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of Shalin Charles.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth, when UAPB walked it off on Neely's one-out solo home run off of Fletcher.

GAME 2 | UAPB 10, Alcorn State 2
PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --Kayla Adams had everything working on Sunday, fanning eight Alcorn St. hitters over five innings of work to help power the UAPB Lady Lions over the Lady Braves 10-2.
In addition to her eight strikeouts, Adams threw five innings, giving up two runs, zero earned, on five hits and walking none for UAPB.
In the batter's box, the Lady Lions were led by Shalin Charles, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Malani Francis put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Jada Carhee also contributed for UAPB, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Lions got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. UAPB scored twice, with one run coming across on freshman Jazlyn Gomez's single.
The Lady Braves failed to push any runs across before the Lady Lions offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The UAPB offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run flyout off the bat of freshman Ariana Gonzalez, which brought the score to 6-0 in favor of the Lady Lions.
Alcorn St. narrowed UAPB's lead to 6-1 before the Lady Lions stretched the advantage to 9-1 in the fourth inning. The Lady Lions scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer from Charles that scored Carhee and Amari Broughton.
The Lady Braves fought back, closing the gap to 9-2 until UAPB added some insurance in the fifth. The Lady Lions scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Francis, bringing the UAPB advantage to 10-2. The score remained 10-2 for the rest of the game, as the Lady Lions coasted to the win.
