PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --The UAPB men's basketball team shot 50 percent from deep, but fell to the Prairie View A&M Panthers 75-74 on the road Monday.
The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Rashad Williams, who had 28 points. Ismael Plet added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Joe French chipped in as well with 10 points.
UAPB offense made hay from beyond the arc, pouring in nine threes on 18 attempts. Williams hit four treys for the Golden Lions in the contest.
How It Happened
After falling behind 34-23, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 2:05 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 34-29. Prairie View A&M answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Golden Lions down 37-29 entering halftime.
Prairie View A&M kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 55-41 advantage before UAPB went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Williams' three, to shrink the deficit to 55-49 with 12:41 to go in the contest. The Golden Lions kept their comeback going, holding the lead with 00:17 left to play, but Prairie View A&M managed to hold on for the 75-74 win. UAPB got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 32 of its 45 total points.
