PINE BLUFF, AR --Ismael Plet and Kylen Milton each recorded double-doubles to help lead the UAPB men's basketball team past the Prairie View A&M Panthers 72-59 at home Saturday at the H.O. Clemmons Arena. 

The Golden Lions had five players score in double figures, led by Plet, who had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Rashad Williams added 13 points from the bench and Lonnell Martin helped out with 12 points.

UAPB pulled down 36 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Prairie View A&M's 28, led by Plet's 11 boards.

The UAPB defense held Prairie View A&M shooters to just 38.6 percent from the field, including 21.7 percent from three-point range. The Panthers did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only five offensive rebounds and scored three second chance points while UAPB pulled down 30 defensive rebounds.
 

How It Happened

UAPB started out the scoring by going on an 8-0 run, culminating in a bucket from Martin, to take an early lead with 16:47 left in the first half. The Golden Lions then added four points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 39-27 advantage. UAPB got a great contribution from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 11 of its 39 total points.

UAPB kept its lead intact before going on a 9-0 run to grow the lead to 48-28 with 17:09 to go in the contest. The Panthers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Golden Lions still cruised the rest of the way for the 72-59 win.
