UAPB Student-Athletes Complete Strong Fall In Classroom

PINE BLUFF, AR. - The 2025 season marked the start of a new year for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and the standards in the classroom remained high as the athletics department finished the fall semester strong. During the fall of 2024, Golden Lions student-athletes continued to achieve historically high academic performance, resulting in a cumulative department GPA of 3.17 and a term GPA of 3.25.

UAPB Athletics has now maintained a GPA of 3.00 or higher for 11 consecutive semesters. A total of 173 student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with 51 students earning a perfect 4.0. Additionally, all 14 teams finished with a cumulative GPA above 3.0.

"I want to congratulate our UAPB student-athletes; I could not be more proud of their hard work," said Chris Robinson, UAPB Vice President and Director of Athletics. "I also want to thank our Student-Athlete Success Team for their dedication. This record-breaking semester would not have been possible without Brodderick Tucker, our Executive Senior Associate for Compliance and Academics, as well as the support from our academic staff (Shon Pilcher and Cecilia Thomas), coaches, and athletics staff. All areas of our athletics department are aligned in their commitment to the 'Total Golden Lions Concept,' and that commitment is evident throughout the year."

The record-setting GPAs at UAPB reflect its outstanding success in NCAA graduation rates. According to the most recent NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data, 83% of UAPB student-athletes graduated within six years of enrollment, positioning the university among the best for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

In the fall semester of 2024, 15 student-athletes graduated, becoming "Dear Mother" alumni.

The women's cross-country team achieved the highest fall semester GPA among all sports, with a 3.71, while the men's cross-country team led their side with a GPA of 3.65.
