Stillwater, OK - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball team got a 26-point showing from the bench, but fell 96-43 to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on the road Monday.
Jailah Pelly led the Lady Lions with 15 points off the bench, and Kristyna Boyd added five points.
Okowi pulled down two offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for UAPB, grabbing 10 boards and turning them into six second chance points.
How It Happened
UAPB struggled out of the gate, falling behind 18-8 at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Lions continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 43-17 halftime deficit.
UAPB's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Lions faced a 74-28 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. UAPB took advantage of three Oklahoma State turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of takeaways.
Oklahoma State kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 91-36 advantage before UAPB went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 91-41 with 2:51 to go in the contest. Oklahoma State responded and outscored the Lady Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 96-43. UAPB got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring nine of its 15 total points.
