OXFORD, MS - D'Arrah Allen and Janiyah Tucker combined to score 17 total points - 70.8 percent of UAPB's points - but the Golden Lions fell to the Ole Miss Rebels 85-24 on the road Sunday.
Tucker led the Golden Lions with eight points and two steals. Allen also added nine points and Kristyna Boyd helped out with three blocks.
Led by Stephanie Okowi's four offensive rebounds, UAPB did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards that resulted in zero second chance points.
UAPB did a great job disrupting Ole Miss shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Boyd's three rejections led the way individually for the Golden Lions.
How It Happened
UAPB struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The Golden Lions continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 50-14 halftime deficit.
UAPB's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Golden Lions faced a 65-17 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. UAPB knocked down one three-pointer in the quarter to score three of its three total points.
UAPB could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 85-24. UAPB fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down one shot to account for three of its seven points.
