PINE BLUFF, AR - The University of Pine Bluff volleyball team fell Sunday to the Southern Lady Jaguars 3-1 (20-25, 19-25, 25-17, 20-25) at home at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
The Lady Lions were led by a double-double from Zykia Jones, who registered 15 kills and 12 digs on the day. Marlina Anderson also added 12 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, MacKenzie McDowell chipped in for with 20 digs to go with five blocks from Anderson.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Lions found themselves in an early hole, dropping the first set 25-20. Southern grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 in a set that was tied up four times before the Lady Jaguars took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | UAPB then dropped the second set 25-19 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Lady Lions lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | After dropping the first two sets, UAPB fought back to grab set three and make it a 2-1 match. The Lady Lions scored first and never trailed in the set to earn a 25-17 victory. UAPB opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 15-5 before closing out the set. The UAPB offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza. UAPB's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Southern attacks in the stanza.
SET 4 | UAPB couldn't build off the set-three victory and lost in set four 25-20 to drop the match. The Lady Lions trailed by as many as six points as Southern grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 and UAPB was never able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Lady Jaguars took over the lead.
