The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's soccer team took down in-state opponent Lyon College in a 10-0 shutout sparked by a hat trick by Yiselle Bernal.
Bernal nailed her first goal in the eighth minute to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Madison Hernandez scored to extend the lead 2-0 for UAPB.
The Lady Lions got hot near the end of the first half with goals from Brooke Gonzalez in the 33rd minute, Sydney Azuero in the 37th minute, and Bernal in the 43rd minute to push the lead to 5-0 at halftime.
Nearly five minutes into the second half, Hernandez tacked on her second goal of the game, followed by Bernal's goal in the 55th minute to claim her first career hat trick and extend the Lady Lions lead 7-0.
Iyanah Hicks scored consecutive goals in the 61st and 70th minute and Gonzalez added her second goal of the game with seconds remaining on the clock to cap off the win for the UAPB.
The Lady Lions totaled 39 shots, 18 of those shots being on goal.
UAPB returns to action on Thursday at home as they welcome the Little Rock Trojans to town.
