GAME 1 | Alcorn State 1, UAPB 0

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas -- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions were not able to score a run against Alcorn State Sunday and dropped a heartbreaker 1-0 by the Lady Braves.

Sydney Green got the ball to start for UAPB and went seven innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing no walks and striking out 11.

Freshman Jada Carhee led the way offensively for the Lady Lions, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a triple. Amari Broughton put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3.

GAME 2 | UAPB 14, Alcorn State 6

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas -- Kaitlyn Neely collected four RBIs to help power the Lady Lions past the Alcorn State Lady Braves 14-6 on Sunday.

Freshman Danika Bryant started in the circle and picked up the win for UAPB. The right-hander went four innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.

Neely went 2-for-3 with a triple in addition to her four RBIs for the Lady Lions. Freshman Jada Carhee put together a standout effort as well, going 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Samaria Jackson also contributed for UAPB, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions got the scoring started early, putting three runs on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. UAPB's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a three-run triple off the bat of Neely.

The Lady Lions then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the second inning after the Lady Braves cut it to 7-1. The UAPB offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run off the bat of Sydney Green, which brought the Lady Lions lead to 11-1.

Alcorn State narrowed UAPB's lead to 11-4 before the Lady Lions stretched the advantage to 12-4 in the third inning. The Lady Lions recorded a run on Carhee's leadoff home run.

The Lady Braves gained ground, closing the gap to 12-6 until UAPB added some insurance in the fifth. The Lady Lions pushed across two runs in the frame, the big hit being an RBI double from Jackson, enforcing the run-rule the score to 14-6 in favor of UAPB.
