#UAPBFootball: Britten’s Career Night Led Golden Lions Over Lane College In Home Opener

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football team used a huge 254-yard output on the ground, including 237 yards from Kayvon Britten, and three rushing touchdowns to pick up a 48-42 win against Lane College Saturday night at home at Simmons Bank Field.
The triumph improved UAPB's record to 1-0 on the season while the Lane College fell to 0-1.

"Lane came out last season and played us tough, but we had some opportunities we let slip away tonight," said UAPB head coach 
Doc Gamble. "Britten played well because he practiced hard every single time and it showed tonight. We'll go back, make some changes and correct some things as we turn our attention to North American."
Skyler Perry led UAPB's passing attack with 222 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown and one interception.

Britten totaled 237 yards to lead the UAPB's ground attack and added three touchdowns in the game, picking up 7.6 yards per carry along the way. Britten also tacked on 60 receiving yards. Britten performance tonight ranks him second all-time in the school program history for rushing yards in a single game, behind Charles Monk Williams with 292, followed by Ivory Lee Brown with 223 yards. Johnny Williams also tacked on 15 yards on the ground.


Raequan Prince reeled in five catches for 86 yards and two scores. Chrysten Cochran got in on the action in the passing game as well, hauling in four balls for 62 yards.
Kendarius Clark showed out for the UAPB defense, collecting eight tackles, 2.0 TFL, and 1.5 sacks. Anas Luqman added four tackles, 1.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks and JaVonn Gray had four tackles, 1.5 TFL, and one sack in the win.

Offensively, UAPB had an outstanding day, racking up 521 total yards, 254 on the ground and 267 through the air, while averaging 6.6 yards per play and out-gaining Lane. UAPB converted on 43.8 percent of third-down attempts on the day. The Golden Lions also went 1-for-1 on fourth down.

How It Happened
UAPB put up 48 points on eight different scoring plays. The Golden Lions took the lead for good with 0:31 remaining in the second quarter, opening up a 27-21 advantage on the Dragons.  Perry found Prince for a four-yard touchdown reception to finish off an eight-play, 50-yard scoring drive. The Golden Lions then rode that lead to victory, cruising the rest of the way.

Josh Sanchez punted three times for the Golden Lions with an average of 53.0 yards per punt while pinning the Dragons inside their own 20 two times.
» UAPB scored three third-quarter touchdowns.
» UAPB scored on an 85 yard kickoff return from Maurice Lloyd.
» The Golden Lions collected nine tackles for loss and added four sacks.
