BATON ROUGE, LA --The UAPB Lady Lions struggled on Friday, falling to the Southern Lady Jaguars by final score of 10-2.
Junior Sydney Green got the ball to start for UAPB and took the loss.
At the plate, the Lady Lions were paced by junior Zharia Richardson, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a triple. Sophomore Layla Stouder compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Junior Samaria Jackson also contributed for UAPB, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Lions got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Senior Alyssa Wesley came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.
The Lady Jaguars failed to push any runs across before the Lady Lions built on their lead in the third inning. Freshman Tyrah Elerby came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which brought the Lady Lions lead to 2-0. The Lady Lions were unable to hold the lead, as Southern scored 10 times over the remaining two innings to grab the 10-2 win.
