#UAPBSoftball Fall In Doubleheader To UT Martin

GAME 1 | UT Martin 13, UAPB 3

MARTIN, Tenn. -- The UAPB Lady Lions struggled on Wednesday, falling to the UT Martin Skyhawks 13-3 despite the efforts of sophomore Samaria Jackson, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Senior Shakeidra Hubbard got the ball to start for UAPB and took the loss.

In the batter's box, the Lady Lions were paced by Jackson, who went 2-for-2 on the day with an RBI. Freshman Marissa Bracey put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. UAPB got an RBI single from Jackson, scoring senior Alyssa Wesley from second base.

The Skyhawks then rallied to score 11 runs and take an 11-1 lead before the Lady Lions got back on the board in the fourth. UAPB managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 11-3 in favor of the Skyhawks. The Lady Lions were unable to get any closer, as UT Martin added two runs to their tally on the way to a 13-3 final.

GAME 2 | UT Martin 11, UAPB 1

MARTIN, Tenn. -- Sophomore Samaria Jackson went 1-for-2 for the UAPB Lady Lions in an 11-1 loss to the UT Martin Skyhawks in the second game.

Sophomore Kirsten Schmidt started and took the loss in the circle for UAPB.

Jackson led the way offensively for the Lady Lions, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Freshman Amari Broughton came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board. The Lady Lions were unable to hold the lead, as UT Martin scored 11 times over the remaining four innings to grab the 11-1 win.
