MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Golden Lions offense put together a nine-play, 72-yard drive, culminating in a 14-yard rushing touchdown from with :49 seconds remaining in the ballgame to give UAPB a 19-14 win over Alabama State on Thursday afternoon in the Annual 98th Turkey Day Classic at ASU Stadium.
Kayvon Britten led all UAPB rushers with 160 yards and three touchdowns in the contest, picking up 5.7 yards per carry. Britten performance against the Hornets pushed him to the 1,000 yards club for the season.
Chrysten Cochran pulled in three catches for 63 yards, followed by Raequan Prince with two catches for 44 yards.
Alabama native Rico Dozier made his appearance in his home state on why he's one of the best linebackers in the SWAC Conference. Dozier led the defensive unit with 17 tackles, three TFLs, and two sacks. Jamarian Henderson showed out for the Golden Lions defense, totaling four tackles, one interception, and one recovered fumble. Anas Luqman added four tackles, 2.0 TFL, one sack, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble and Syncere Jones had four tackles and one recovered fumble in the win.
The Golden Lions won the turnover battle in Thursday's game, forcing four turnovers while coughing the ball up two times, with UAPB turning those takeaways into 13 points.
UAPB defense disrupted Alabama State's backfield all game, racking up four sacks and 10 total tackles for loss.

UAPB scored first and opened up a 7-0 lead with 7:02 remaining in the first quarter.Another UAPB score then extended the lead to 13-0.
Alabama State then grabbed a 14-13 lead, but UAPB responded at the :49 remaining mark in the fourth quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run from to jump back in front 19-14. Both teams played the rest of the game without scoring.
