NORMAN, OK --Ismael Plet collected a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, but the UAPB men's basketball team fell to the Oklahoma Sooners 66-58 on the road Friday.
In addition to Plet's double-double, the Golden Lions (1-2) were led by Shaun Doss Jr., who put up 17 points and two blocks, and by Kylen Milton, who tacked on 13 points.
The Golden Lions defense was a problem in Friday's game, forcing 13 Oklahoma turnovers while committing 10. Those takeaways turned into 13 points on the other end of the floor. Plet's two steals led the way individually for the Golden Lions.
How It Happened
UAPB kept it close in the first period, but entered halftime down 30-26.
Oklahoma kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 56-48 advantage before UAPB went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 56-54 with 2:36 to go in the contest. Oklahoma responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 66-58. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 16 of its 32 points in the lane.
