The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team hosts Lane College on Tuesday in the H.O. Clemmons Arena at 6 p.m.
The Lady Lions will be home for the first time this season after a nine-game road start.
"We're progressing, and we're getting better as a team and not just individuals," said head coach Chelsey Lucas about the team's performance. "Each player knows one of my mottoes 'never let someone outwork you' and that helps them compete at a high level when we play. At the end of the day, we just want to play the game that we love."
UAPB is coming off three straight weekend tournaments at Arkansas, Saint Louis, and Lamar.Â
UAPB is led by freshman, Zykia Jones who leads the team in kills with 67 kills through nine games. Nyah Ellis leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference in digs per set with a 5.36 average and leads the team in total digs with 134.
Nikole Akamine leads the team with 123 assists and was named to the Billiken Invitational All-Tournament Team at Saint Louis a few weeks back.Â
"We're still learning as the season goes," said Lucas. "We have moments where we can compete with the best. Some players who haven't played at this level yet are learning. Mistakes will happen, but the goal is to play the game to the best of your ability and learn while doing it."
