The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Soccer team competed in their second consecutive non-conference competition against Oral Roberts Sunday, August 22nd.  The Lady Lions played aggressively on the field but Oral Roberts finished strong and won their first non-conference game (5-0).

During the first half of the game both teams got out to a slow start until Oral Roberts jumped out to a three goal lead. The Lady Lions had eight total shot attempts at goal but were not able to get it in the net. 

As the second half rolled out, Oral Roberts gained two more goals down the stretch taking the win with a total score of 5-0. The Lady Lions added five more shot attempts at goal to end the game with a total of 13.

The Lady Lions were led by freshman Iyannah Hicks in shot attempts at the goal finishing with a total of three. Freshman goalkeeper Kailey Wehrmann for a second consecutive game led the team with a total of five saves.

"Some advantages that we took from today's game were seeing where we need to improve. We had great looks in the beginning but have to do better defensively," said Head Coach Erik Solberg. 

The Lady Lions will be on the road for their third game of the season to Memphis, TN to compete against the Memphis Tigers on Thursday, August 26th at 7 pm. 

"We are playing Memphis, a team that is top in the country so our focus is on competitiveness, defense, and scoring goals," said Coach Solberg.
