#UAPBBaseball Opens Home Schedule This Weekend Against Prairie View A&M

Pine Bluff, Ark. - After spending their first 10 games of the season on the road, The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team will take on Prairie View A&M this weekend in their home opener three-game series.

The first pitch is set for Friday, March 19 at 3 p.m., 2 p.m. Saturday, and wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex at Bill Jones Field.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, fans' limited capacity will be allowed in the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex for game days.

The Golden Lions won the last matchup two games to one in 2020 before the season was canceled due to the pandemic.

UAPB (2-9, 2-1 SWAC) enters the weekend coming off a non-conference loss to #17 TCU Tuesday. Prior to playing the Horned Frogs, the Golden Lions defeated Texas Southern in a three-game conference series scoring 14 points the last two conference games.

Senior Nick Kreutzer leads the team in batting average .346, tied for second in the conference in home runs with two, tied for fourth in the conference in slugging percentage .609, and tied for fourth in the conference in RBIs with 10. Sophomore DeClaudio Irvin ranks second on the team in batting average at .326, followed by freshman Dante Leach, second on the team in RBIs at seven.

Tony Horn Jr. (1-1) leads UAPB on the mound with a 3.97 ERA.

Prairie View A&M (2-11, 2-4 SWAC) dropped a midweek game 22-2 against Texas A&M Wednesday night. Brayden Johnson leads the Panthers at the plate, batting .333 with six RBIs.
