The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's volleyball team heads home to the H.O. Clemmons Arena to take on conference foe Alcorn St. Tuesday, March 2, at p.m.

The Lady Lions will be back at home to face the Lady Braves for the first time since February 5, when they hosted Philander Smith College.

UAPB was slated to play Jackson St. at home last week, but the game was moved due to the city recover from a snowstorm in the area.
"The ladies are excited to be back at home," said UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas.

"It's been a tough two weeks dealing with injuries, Covid-19 issues, and the inclement weather. We can't control things that's not in our hands, we just have to continue to be a good teammate, stay focus and put ourselves in the best situation when tournament time comes around."

On the offensive side, UAPB is led by sophomore Zyonne Smith, who ranks at the top of the SWAC conference in kills per set, averaging 3.95.  Sophomore Nikole Akamine leads the team in assist with 99, averaging 4.71 pet sets.

On the defensive side, SWAC Preseason Defensive Blocker of the Year, junior Haley Gomez, continues to dominate around the net with 29 blocks, averaging 1.38 per set.

The Lady Braves (1-2, 1-2 SWAC) are coming off a 3-0 defeat to Jackson St. led by Mar'ria Phillips, who leads the team averaging 4.0 kills per set.
