#UAPBBaseball Defeated In Series Opener

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team lost its first game of a three-game non-conference series Friday, dropping a 9-5 decision to Jackson St. at Braddy Field.  

Tony Horn Jr. (0-1) made the start on the mound for UAPB, but Jackson St. bats got warm earlier in the game, jumping to a (6-0) lead.

The Golden Lions responded by scoring two in the top of the sixth inning to cut into the Tigers' lead (6-2).

Jackson St. responded with three of their own in the bottom of the sixth to take a (9-3) lead before UAPB bats would get warm too.  Freshman Edwin Delacruz singled up the middle and advanced to second on an error by the outfield.  Next at-bat, junior Justin Rieschick singled to left, bringing in Delacruz on an error by the catcher.  Rieschick would score on a wild pitch to cut the Tigers' lead to five (9-4).  

UAPB kept Jackson scoreless and kept the momentum going in the top of the eighth inning when senior Nick Kreutzer homered to right field to cut the lead to four (9-5), but it was not enough as the Tigers escaped with the win.

Kreutzer led UAPB at the plate with a solo home run going 1-for-4 with one run and an RBI, followed by sophomore Braelin Hence going 2-for-4, and Irvin Declaudio going 1-for-3, with one run.

The Golden Lions will return to action for game two Saturday at 3 p.m.
