After more than 10 months, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball opens the 2021 season this week with a two-game series at #16 Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville, TN. The series includes single games Tuesday and Wednesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The Golden Lions return 21 players from the 2020 season, including six position starters, including 2021 Preseason SWAC First-Team All-Conference first baseman
Nick Kreutzer.
"Prior to dealing with adversity from the snowstorm and not being able to practice much as a team, we are excited to get the season underway," said UAPB head baseball coach
Carlos James. "Playing against the no. 16 team in the country, I want our guys to go out and compete, so what more can you ask for, but we're playing to win. It's been a little challenging with the lack of practices, but we'll get better as the season goes on.
Tuesday and Wednesday games will be streamed on Watch ESPN and ESPN app with the first pitch of the game scheduled for 4:30 p.m., ET.
This matchup is the first meeting between the two teams since 2018, when the Vols defeated the Golden Lions 9-1.
