The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Athletics Department is proud to announce the hiring of Cameo Stokes as the Associate Director of Athletics for Strategic Communication and Director of Community Relations.

"I'm excited and grateful to be taking on this new role in leading the Strategic Communication Department at UAPB!" said Stokes. "I'm looking forward to working with the community and promoting the success of our student-athletes, not just on the court/field but in the way that they grow and become even greater impacts for their community."

No stranger to UAPB, Stokes will lead a department which services 14 sports programs. He will also serve as the department's senior staff and serve as the primary contact for football.

Stokes has served the past six-plus years as the Assistant Director of Strategic Communication at UAPB. In that role, Stokes served as the primary contact for men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's cross country, soccer, softball, volleyball, and secondary contact for men's and women's basketball. Additionally, he aids with several other capacities within the athletic program, including a key point of contact for baseball and football.

During his time at UAPB, Stokes has helped strengthen the department's relationship with the community of Jefferson County and UAPB alumni. He also helped strengthen the social media visibility while offering insight for other multimedia initiatives, including player feature videos for the Golden Lions Spotlight segments. Stokes was also responsible for assisting with the department's launch of the athletic website and updating the overall look, maintenance, and development of the UAPB Athletic app.

In addition, his day-to-day duties within the department include writing press releases, game previews, and game recaps while handling media-related obligations, such as credential requests and interviews. Stokes also assist with maintaining the athletics website and social media channels, in which he provides input and guidance for the creation of teams' season schedule posters and schedule cards. He oversees game-day operations as well, namely statistics, live statistical feeds, live streaming and photographic information for all 14 of the universities' athletic teams.

Stokes played a significant role with the year-long promotion of the New Orleans Saints third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft-Terron Armstead- in a year that saw him earn multiple college football honors to become the highest draft pick out of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

A graduate of Arkansas Baptist College, Stokes consistently volunteers in Jefferson and Pulaski County and serves on the board as the Sr. Babe Ruth Baseball President, a member of the Youth Football League Committee in Jefferson County, and an advisor for Little Rock Kappa League Mentoree program.

Stokes is an active member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and a proud member of  Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
