Armstead, Saints To Battle Raiders On Monday Night Football

9/20/2020 12:00:00 PM

Former University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff football standout Terron Armstead and the New Orleans Saints will head west for a prime time showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football.

The battle of 1-0 teams tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. on ESPN will be the first game in new Allegiant Stadium, as the Raiders relocated from Oakland after the 2019 season. It is also the first NFL game ever played in Las Vegas and could be one of the most exciting games of the season.

Armstead and the Saints opened the 2020 season with a 34-23 home win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. As Covid-19 regulations vary from state to state, there were no fans in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome last week, and there will not be fans in attendance Monday night. The much quieter atmosphere, in addition to not playing preseason games, was a change for Armstead and the team.

"Yeah, it was and then the uniqueness with no fans and just the pregame being a little different, especially in New Orleans," said Armstead, now in his eighth NFL season. "So, it was different for sure. Every season, even with the preseason, it's still those first several games you feel like you're knocking rust off and you're just getting your eyes back on some things and certain situations that pop up that don't just necessarily happen in practice, or preseason games. So just knocking that rust off, getting back into the groove of things. That kind of happens every year, this year maybe a little more than normal."

The Raiders are coming off a 34-30 triumph at Carolina in a back-and-forth contest that featured seven lead changes. RB Josh Jacobs had a career-high three rushing touchdowns in the win.
