The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff baseball team continues their five-game homestand with a nonconference matchup against Eastern Illinois starting Tuesday at 2 p.m., followed by Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex at Bill Jones Field.

The Golden Lions are coming off a dramatic finish in game three to claim the series with Prairie View A&M this past weekend.  

Junior Humberto Maldonado finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and one run in the contest. Simon added two RBIs and one run, followed by Higgins with two hits.

Sophomore Will Smith picked up his first win of the season for the Golden Lions, going 3.0 innings with two strikeouts. 

The Golden Lions are led offensively by Maldonado, who carries a .308 batting average and who is also tied for third in the conference in home runs with two, ranks third in the conference in RBIs, with three, and tied for fifth in the conference in hits with 20. 

Maldonado is supported offensively by senior Nick Kreutzer, who ranks first in the conference and tied for third in the nation in doubles with eight. Sophomore Braelin Hence tied for third in the conference in triples with two, followed by senior Justin Robinson who's tied for seventh in the conference in runs, along with teammate junior Jarficur Parker with 13.  Robinson is also tied for second in the conference in stolen bases with eight.

On the hill, the Golden Lions ranks fourth in the conference in pitching with a 6.31 ERA. Junior Korey Wasson leads UAPB on the mound with a 3.97 ERA and 23 strikeouts for the season.  

Eastern Illinois is coming off a 2-1 weekend series topping Jacksonville St. The Panthers is led by Trey Sweeney at the plate, batting .306 with seven RBIs. Blake Malatestinic leads Eastern Illinois on the mound with a 3-0 record and a 1.69 ERA.
