PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team begins a five-game homestand this weekend at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex against Prairie View A&M for a three-game series. The first pitch is set for Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with UAPB winning 7-6 earlier this year in the MLB Andre Dawson Classic in New Orleans. Fans can get live stats via uapblionsroar.com or on the free UAPB Athletics App.  

The Golden Lions are coming off a midweek defeat to #11 Oklahoma 13-2. Hence led the Golden Lions at the plate, going 2-for-2 and scored a run. Sims also added two hits and a run for UAPB.

The Golden Lions come into the series against the Panthers rank third in batting with a .266 average, fifth in pitching with a 6.67 ERA, and fifth in fielding with a 0.951 percentage.

Junior Humberto Maldonado ranks 13th in the conference in batting, leads the team with a batting average of .340. Maldonado also ranks second in the conference with 17 hits, tied for second in the conference with 13 RBIs, tied for second in doubles with four, and tied for 10th in home runs with one. Senior Nick Kreutzer comes into the series against the Panthers tied for the first in the nation with eight doubles.  Senior Justin Robinson and junior Jarficur Parker both tied for third in the conference in RBIs with 11.

Junior Korey Wasson leads the Golden Lion on the hill with two wins and an ERA of 3.06. Wasson also ranks fifth in the conference with 21 strikeouts. 

The Panthers are coming off a midweek 12-1 defeat to Lamar Wednesday night.

The Panthers are led by Andrew Garcia at the plate, with a batting average of .303, 10 hits, and two RBIs. Kyle Smith leads the Panthers on the mound with a 1-2 record and 3.38 ERA.
