The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team dropped game one 12-3 of the two-game series against Eastern Illinois Tuesday at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex at Bill Jones Field.
Eastern Illinois got off to a quick start as they led 5-0 after five innings before UAPB scored.
The Golden Lions responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 5-3. Junior
Darrian Aldridge was hit by a pitch, then advanced to second with a single up the middle by junior
Kacy Higgins.

Jackson Rehkow walked to load the bases before Aldridge would score on a ground out RBI by junior
Humberto Maldonado to put the score at 5-1. The Golden Lions would cut the lead to three at 5-2 when the Panthers pitcher was called for a balk, scoring Higgins and moving Rehkow to third. The momentum kept shifting when senior
Bryce Roesch with a triple to left field, scoring Rehkow to cut the lead to two at 5-3.
The Panthers would add seven unanswered runs to clinch game one.
Roesch led the Golden Lions at the plate going 1-for-3 with an RBI, followed by Hence and Aldridge with two hits apiece.
UAPB will be back in action Wednesday at 1 p.m. for game two at the Torii Hunter Complex at Bill Jones Field.
