Baseball Falls To Texas Southern

HOUSTON, TX. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team fell to Texas Southern 12-5 Saturday in game two at MacGregor Park.
The Golden Lions got on the board first with a towering solo home run by senior Bryce Roesch over the left-field wall to give UAPB a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Texas Southern jumped out to a 6-1 lead, scoring three runs in the first two innings. UAPB battled back in the top of the fourth inning scoring four runs to cut the deficit to 6-5.  

Sophomore Brandon Simon singled to left field, followed by back to back doubles by seniors Austin Krzeminski and Justin Robinson scoring Andrew Szalkowski, who pinch ran for Simon to cut the lead to four at 6-2. 

Roesch doubled to center, bringing in Krzeminski and Robinson to cut the Tigers lead to two at 6-4.

Senior Nick Kreutzer kept the rally going with a single to left field, scoring Roesch to cut the lead down to one at 6-5. 

Texas Southern went on to add one run in the bottom of fifth and five runs in the seventh inning to preserve the lead for the win. 

Roesch led the Golden Lions at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs.  Kreutzer added a hit and one RBI. 

UAPB will be back in action for game three, Sunday against Texas Southern at 1 p.m.
