DENTON, Texas -- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team had a strong start, but North Texas pulled away in the second half as the Golden Lions fell 81-56 in The Super Pit.
Markedric Bell and
Dequan Morris each scored 14 points, and
Jalen Lynn scored 11. Shaun Doss scored eight points and had a career-high 10 rebounds in the contest.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with four ties and six lead changes. Bell (12) and Lynn (nine) combined for 21 points as the Golden Lions trailed only 36-32 at halftime.
However, in the second half, UAPB shot just nine of 26 from the field (35 percent), while North Texas got hot, shooting 61 percent from the field in outscoring the Golden Lions 45-24.
UAPB will conclude non-conference play Monday at Baylor at 7 p.m. in a game that will be shown on ESPN+.
