The 2020-21 Southwestern Athletic Conference preseason All-SWAC teams were announced Tuesday, with University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball player Markedric Bell the lone selection for the UAPB men's and women's teams.

Bell was a second-team preseason selection, coming off a season in which he averaged 10.8 points and 4.8 rebounds while recording 10 double-digit scoring games. Bell scored a career-high 33 points and tallied eight rebounds in a conference-opening win at Mississippi Valley State, highlighted by scoring 26 consecutive Golden Lion points in the second half.

The UAPB basketball teams will look to defy the conference's predicted order of finish for the upcoming season. Despite the addition of former SWAC Player of the Year and one of the nation's top scorers in Joyce Kennerson, the Lady Lions of second-year head coach Dawn Brown were picked to finish eighth.

On the men's side, and despite having four starters among 10 returning players for the dean of SWAC head coaches in George Ivory, the Golden Lions were picked to finish 10^th.

The 2020-21 season begins Thanksgiving week and conference play begins Sat. Jan. 2 with the UAPB teams hosting Miss. Valley St.
