The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball team has concluded one week of practice in getting ready for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Second-year Lady Lions head coach
Dawn Brown is pleased with what she has seen during the opening week.
"One thing that we're really proud of is the hard work and the energy they are putting in every day in practice," Brown said. "What was evident today is we got better. They had high energy, were focused, and ready to tackle the challenges we put them through."
Brown is enjoying not only what she is seeing from the team as a whole, but also the nine newcomers to the program who are competing to work their way into significant roles for the season.
"It's been fun being able to coach this group, and it's very exciting for myself and the staff," Brown said. "In laying the foundation for who we want to be, they are eager, they want to be recognized, and they want to be noticed. The old era of just getting by is gone. For them to understand and embrace what we are building here and exhibiting that type of effort is fun to watch."
